About Dr. Taulbee

I believe that people change because you have “hope” that things can be different. So, change unfolds as we 1) understand why we do what we do, and 2) learn (internalize) new responses to triggers of old dysfunctional behaviors so that negative reaction cycles are broken.

I am a Christian therapist, trained in psychiatry as a Doctor of Mental Health, who works within the framework of Psychodynamic principles. I am skilled in diagnosis/diagnostic differential, and treatment. I will treat anyone, regardless of your worldview. Being medically schooled, I was trained to understand the delicate interaction between mind, body, emotions, and psychopharmacology. Not only that, but, from years of helping people and undergoing extensive analytic work myself, I have come to understand that we all struggle with hurts, hangups, and habits that block communication, distort feelings, cause depression, anger, and, that sometimes reveal underlying chemical imbalances in the brain. Utilizing a Psycho-Spiritual approach to therapy, Dr. Taulbee observes that we often adapt to life in ineffective ways, leading to destructuve and painful outcomes.

Whether our dysfunctional behaviors are learned or biochemically derived, they are typically rooted in unresolved past experience of growing up in our families of origin. I assist patients in becoming more fully aware of the need to strengthen the core aspects of self which opens the door to more fully participating in life.

My role is to partner with you along that discovery path of asking questions and exploring issues that block your success in these areas of your life today. While my orientation is Psychodynamic, I also use strategies from Solution-based, brief focused, and CBT therapies, while integrating a Psycho-Spiritual approach to the therapy. This provides resources for the patient to develop tools to grow and change.
I am here to help you along that journey of recovery and wholeness. I work with groups, couples, individuals, and teens, and, treat a range of disorders including PTSD, OCD, ADD/ADHD, Depression/Mood Disorders/Bi-Polar Illness, Addictions – Gambling*, Drugs, Alcohol, Anger management, spirituality, Relationships, communication conflict, sexual brokenneness, Stress, and life issues such as infidelity, burn out, feeling “stuck”, “dead marriages”, low self-esteem and self-worth. I also provide consultation to pastors, churches on a variety of issues, and I conduct support groups.
My slogan is: “Your need is my concern”! I look forward to working with you! You may contact me by email or cell phone. See Contact page. Dr. Saundra Taulbee
